A 24 MILLION YEAR OLD FOSSIL, SHOWS BEES HAVE NEVER CHANGED

Gunebakis Newspaper, 24 August 2009

The 24-million-year-old bee fossil, found in a Dominican amber can be seen above. It does not have any difference from today’s samples. This defies Darwinism’s assertion and proves that Allah created all living beings in a moment.

A 155-MILLION-YEAR-OLD SQUID

In the fossil record, there is not even one example of a living being to evolve from a different  species through slight changes. All the fossil specimens people have found show that every being was created with its own specific characteristics. And they have never undergone any changes as long as they lived. One of the proofs that shows this fact is this 155-million-year-old squid fossil.

Haberturk, 20 August 2009

A 155-million-year-old squid fossil, which was found in Wiltshire, England during excavation baffled the researchers. In course of excavation, the palaeontologists who uncovered an ordinary-looking stone, encountered an ink sac of a squid undamaged for millions of years. The researchers, which removed calcareous part of it, succeeded in making it a writable ink, with ammonia solution.

ALLAH'S COMPASSION FOR HUMANS: DISEASE

As Allah gave people a lot of blessings because of His mercy, He gave people imperfections and inadequacies too so that  they should desire  Paradise. Sincere Muslims consider these  inadequaces and imperfections as a blessing that Allah bestowed upon them. They thank Allah for them, and pray to enter  His Paradise.

Diseases are examinations so that humans should desire Paradise. They should think about Allah’s blessings, value  their health and thank Him; and thus, they should understand their inedaquacies and obey Him.

In their daily lives, humans tend to see many blessings conferred on them as a part of natural life; humans should remember it is Allah Who gave everything that they have as a mercy from His presence. For example, many people do not  think about  important blessings such as: how they walk without a problem, how they stand on their feet  when they wake up every morning. If any problem might occur with their feet , it would affect their entire daily lives.

A foot that is unable to step and to feel painful , for a human, causes them to understand  how much of a blessing it is to take steps  a thousands times within a day. Muslims consider all matters like this, big or small, as a means to be near Allah. They will thank Allah, remembering how  Allah gave them an immense benefit by granting them health. They know that Allah is the One Who gives and takes thier disease and they will expect the cure from  Allah.

Every time they feel pain, they remember Allah, and keep their hearts with Him.
He Who created me and guides me;
He Who gives me food and gives me drink;
and when I am ill, it is He Who heals me;
He Who will cause my death, then give me life;
He Who I sincerely hope will forgive my mistakes on the Day of Reckoning.
My Lord, give me right judgment and unite me with the righteous;
and make me highly esteemed among the later peoples;
and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight (Surat ash-Shu‘ara, 78-85)

THE WORLD CAN ONLY BE A LIVABLE PLACE AS LONG AS THERE IS SUBMISSION TO ALLAH'S PROTECTION

At any moment, the world in which we are living continues its existence through the protection of its numerous stabilities of which we are aware and unaware. Some of these delicate stabilities are the rotation speed of the galaxies, the stars and the planets, their heat and density,  the mass and the expansion speed of the universe, the sustenance cycle, the aquatic cycle, and the nitrogen cycle. In order for biotic and a biotic creatures to keep up, these stabilities are bounded with the process of extremely flawless and spectacular delicate accounts at any moment. Having a problem in the function of, or the deficiency of, even, one of these numerous chains of systems that are in an excellent harmony, would cause unthinkable impediments. So much so that, these impediments would perish the life on earth.

However, some people, who are deceived by the hustle and bustle of daily life, continue their lives almost without knowing these miraculous stabilities. Moreover, they never think that their own life is bounded with an extraordinarily certain process of these delicately harmonious systems. These people are only interested in their own little world, and they only care about the matters related to their little world; for example, small matters that one thinks about are the incidents that take place at work or school, or the relationships between  family members and friends, or their own personal interests and issues . However, there are innumerable details around them that they need to explore.

After investigating these realities, and facing the reality of these extremely delicate stabilities, such as the whole universe's massive system , some people  start having anxiety and fear. For  example, they start living with the fear and the anxiety of being caught by a sudden earthquake or being struck  by  lightning. Of course, this is also  wrong behavior. The true behavior is to see the reality that all of these delicate stabilities are totally in the control of Allah.

The Delicate Stabilities That Surround The Universe

There are numerous events happening  in the world, a world, within a universe that  rotates nonstop in an endless space.  Each of these events demonstrates  extremely great miracles with entire  details.  However, all of these are frightening for a person who does not have faith, and for someone who does not realize Allah's control and power over these events. For example, the bombardment of meteors, which happen at any time on the upper layers of the atmosphere, can lead unbelievers into anxiety. However, every moment of this bombardment is under Allah's control. This is because  Allah  has uniquely created the atmosphere that surrounds the world for this reason. The meteors that head towards the earth with a speed of 40 kilometers per second starts burning after entering the atmosphere by the affects of friction; in this way, the atmosphere makes approximately 50 thousand meteors harmless per year. As it is seen, this world is being protected from big disasters by a powerful shield called the atmosphere . Such a big threat would destroy  life in the universe if left aimlessly; however, it becomes no more danger by the magnificent system that Allah  has created.  On  the contrary, it turns into a wonder of creation that emphasizes the excellence of Allah's endless art.

The existence  of the magma that bubbles up under the earth is also an event that would cause fear in  a person who does not have trust in Allah, As it is known, the heat increases by 30 degrees descending  into the centre of the earth. At the core, this heat extraordinarily reaches  to 4500 degree Celsius. There is  almost 60 degrees heat, in only one kilometer under the ground. However, this situation that interests everyone on earth is not even known by many people. In fact, through the tremendous systems that Allah creates, everyone on earth is safe from a potential danger that this  situation would have caused.

Undoub
tedly, there are countless systems that Allah has created in order for people to live on this earth.  Humans  keep living in this world peacefully with a spontaneous submissive spirit, without even knowing that Allah placed this in their hearts . On the other hand, Muslims are aware of these delicate stabilities, and they have trust in Allah with their whole heart.  Moreover, they see the perfect art in  Allah's creation, and they acknowledge Allah's greatness.

HAVING AN OUTLOOK THAT OBSERVES THE ART OF ALLAH

Within seconds, our eyes focus on tens of objects in succession. In a moment, our eyes see an ornament of the mirror’s frame in our room; afterwards, our eyes look at, an ornament on the wallpaper, then the switch of the television, the cable on the floor of our room, and the door handle. Consecutively, hundreds of details is what our eyes experience when we see. When we decided to stand up in order to go to the kitchen, in our way, we move forward by seeing tens of details again. For example, we see the detail of a farmer’s shirt on a painting hung on the corridor’s wall.Whether consciously or not, proceed by seeing new details from different angles..

In our home, we move about hundreds of times.  Our eyes look at hundreds and thousands of points, from different angles, and many of them occur involuntarily and without our decision. We see all of this detail because every single detail has been predestined in the presence of Allah, before we are even born. It is Allah, Who created all of the details, one by one. Fate is composed of all those moments that extend in unison with one another, in a specific order.

A muslim’s concentration and focus on what Allah created, in all moments, beautifies his submission to Allah; it deepens his understanding. By virtue of meaning behind what he sees, everything rises in value. This is because Allah has created them all for us, before we are born, one by one, with an amazing and detailed art; He brought every instant of life into being. Let’s think about the creation, and comprehend the beautiful being of Allah with a deep feeling, with awe, with a strong love, so that we are near Him.  He gave us understanding.

Allah commands us in Surat Al-Insan:

Has man ever known a point of time when he was not something remembered? We created man from a mingled drop to test him, and We made him hearing and seeing. (Surat al-Insan 1-2)

Humans are on trial. Allah has bestowed uncountable blessings upon us. In a moment,  he presented atoms, DNAs, and the Earth, with its quadrillions of details from the sky to the surface. Humans have to turn towards Allah, as soon as we open our eyes in the morning. When we open our eyes, if the first thing we see is the ceiling or a wardrobe, we see it, at that moment, because it is in our fate that Allah predestines this.  We wake up and see what He wished for us to see.  Then, Allah makes us alive again and wake us up for a new day. The first thing we should do is to praise Him and pray to Him. Due to our fate, with blessings preordained for us for that day, we have to think eagerly about what Allah wishes to bless upon us, and we have to start the day enthusiastically, with a nearness to Allah.  We have to pay attention to observe details of His divine wisdom that is composed of moments in succession in our fate.

To pay attention in that way, prevents us from being undiscerning for what we see. It makes us come to understand deeply, to acquire contentment and admiration of Allah, and  to obtain His nearness, for us.

THE TRUE FRIEND IS ALLAH WHO WANTS ALL GOODNESS FOR HIS SERVANTS

Allah provided numerous blessings for his servants and created this life on earth as a trial stage for them. Every provision they will need, and like, had been prepared for them way before human beings were even created. The air they breathe, the birds that fly in the sky (each one more beautiful than the other), the plants that grow so pretty and in countless diversity, the flowers that bloom which are extremely aesthetic, unique blessings, the people they love, the most beautiful and cutest creatures that generate extreme excitement in the heart, a flawless balance system, and many more detailed creatures, were created by Allah for Himself.

Humans find everything that they need as ready when they come to life. They are all endowed with great comfort. Everything is proper to its own sizes and life conditions. Fruits, food, and the whole world, with the every single detail, are completely suitable for the life conditions of human beings. However, humans almost never show any effort to obtain these. They are faced with an excellent balance and harmony. All of these are created by Allah up to the tiniest details. Moreover, for the life on earth, which is in the trial stage, Allah sent a holy book via His prophets which contains everything in it to make it as a guidance for His servants. This holy book contains every issue that humans need to address and that clearly explains the ways of attaining Allah's sake: "... We have not omitted anything from the Book – then they will be gathered to their Lord.” (Surat al-An'am, 38)

Allah sent this guidance, a holy book, that distinguishes right from wrong, that depicts the behaviors which would be suitable for Allah's sake, that is full of wisdom, and which completely explains every issue that is needed to be known:

This is a Book We have sent down to you so that you can bring mankind from the darkness to the light, by the permission of their Lord, to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. (Surah Ibrahim, 1)

For humans who find everything ready with the most comprehensive details, it is their task to live their life according to the morals of the Quran and based on the orders and advices Allah gives. As a servant who is turning towards Allah, who is the real Friend and for whom He created the most beautiful details with His endless wisdom, it is important to shape his life suitable for the sake of Allah, who is his Protector. That is Allah, who is to be liked, to be remembered, to be exalted, to be trusted, to be merited, and to be turned towards as a real Friend because He bestowed everything to human beings even before humans knew these. Allah is the only Protector of those who know that Allah is the only Friend, who takes shelter in His power and strength, and who trusts His supreme wisdom and mercy.

A person who knows that everything Allah created is good, prosperous, and a revelation of a supreme wisdom, would only trust his Lord and would only take shelter in Him. Therefore, in this world that is created as a trial stage, one of the fundamental features of a believing person should be trust in Allah. Trust in Allah is a person's reliance to Allah and to accept Him as his trustee. It is the requirement of faith to have a deep trust in Allah if a Muslim recognizes that every moment and every event that he deals with is created by Allah. That is one of the most essential features of faith--to show submission to Allah who created humans when they were nothing and who surrounds humans with His blessings everywhere. There is no one else to accept as a trustee other than Allah who creates goodness with constant and endless good morals. Therefore, Allah is the only presence to have trust in for a Muslim who lives according to the morals of the Quran. Allah orders that: “And put your trust in Allah. Allah suffices as a Guardian.” (Surat al-Ahzab, 3)

TRUST IN ALLAH IS A WHOLE THAT CAN NOT BE SEPERATED AS MINOR OR MAJOR ISSUES

Because a Muslim's mind is affiliated with the Qur’an, every verse has the  feature of a building block shaping one’s personality. For this reason, a Muslim is always tuned to fulfill good, auspicious and beneficial deeds. A Muslim would not separate issues according to his mind. All his assessments are based on the Qur’an.

Some people, in their own eyes, might consider some issues to be personal and thus belittle them and make different differentiations. However, many attitudes assumed because they are thought to be personal might not be compatible with the Qur’an. Some people may be shaken and lose their trust in Allah because of some minor issues while some others may lose their trust in Allah in the face of a disease, death or property loss. However, as long as a person, in the guidance of the Qur’an, remains watchful against satan’s and lives the comfort of trusting in Allah, making Him his friend and companion, all these issues become minor one that can be readily avoided.

The Qur’an makes a clear distinction between good deeds and misdeeds. Allah commands human beings to engage in good deeds and display favorable manners. He commands responding evil with goodness, being forgiving and disclaiming one’s rights even if one is right and many similar favorable moral values. In one verse, Allah commands that goodness and evil are not the same:

A good action and a bad action are not the same. Repel the bad with something better  and, if there is enmity between you and someone else, he will be like a bosom friend. (Surah Fussilat, 34)

Some people may be negatively affected by trivial issues to an unexpected degree. On the other hand, while an incident which seems to be important and serious is expected to challenge one’s lower self, it may not have the slightest impact on a person. An unexpected minor matter, on the other hand, may prove to be quite challenging for one’s lower self.

For instance a harm given to a very precious good of a person may not negatively affect that person. He may display steadfastness, thinking that there is an absolute good in it and expresses that Allah creates such an incident with goodness. He displays a beautiful submission in Allah, deeming it is something that can be compensated and that it is not a big loss.

However, the same person might unexpectedly negatively affected by someone’s statement or mimic and cannot display the same trust in Allah. He may feel disturbed by a behavior, mimic or word of a friend and, in his own way, attach a special meaning to them. He thinks that, out of jealousy, the other person employs an insidious method to annoy and humiliate him covertly so that other people would not understand him. Then in almost all of his behaviors, he seeks clues that will justify this conviction. An extremely insignificant issue may prove to be phenomenally important for this person and occupy his mind more than any other thing. All his thoughts center around this issue and he considers various possibilities. Deriving different conclusions from the behaviors of the other party and attaching meanings in the light of his judgments, he may put himself into unprecedented trouble.

He forgets that the other party is a helpless being entirely under the sway of Allah, and that every incident, every mimic and every character is created in destiny by Allah. He ignores the fact that Allah might have created that person to put his morality into trial and he should be the one that shows mature behavior. Indeed, Allah states that He created some humans to examine others:

We never sent any Messengers before you who did not eat food and walk in the market-place. But We have made some of you a trial for others to see if you will be steadfast? Your Lord sees everything. (Surat al-Furqan, 20 )

Everything is a trial for a human’s life in the Hereafter. As it is indicated in the verse, what is required from a person of faith is to persevere. Assessing the issues with a conscious and pure mind and keeping in mind that these issues are part of the trial is an indicator of a Muslim consciousness.

If a person makes distinctions in his mind, deeming some issues to be different, he would simply be mistaken. There are no minor or major issues. Everything is a whole. And, one of the major issues with which a Muslim is put to test is to display good manners for the good pleasure of Allah, and to be on Allah’s side against the lower self, not to be on the lower self’s side. What befalls him is to live as a Muslim, and assume thoughts and attitudes which would please Allah throughout his life.

During his lifetime, a person comes across with various characters that are different from one another. There are many characters that Allah describes us in the Quran. Polytheists, hypocrites, deviators, and believers… Not every one is the same. Humans exhibit their characters based on the degree of the fear of Allah they have. However, the moral structure of the other person should never affect a sincere believer. It should never let him fall into a fallacy. A related verse reads:

So be steadfast. Allah’s promise is true. Do not let those who have no certainty belittle you. (Surat ar-Rum, 60)

A Muslim should never take others as an example, and follow one’s behavior when they are mistaken. Even though a person says that he is a believer, his fear of Allah might be weak and deficient; no one knows it but Allah. Therefore, if a person is a sincere believer, then the true path is out in the open. The morality others display can by no means be a measure.

What befalls a sincere believer who has fear of Allah is to uncompromisingly display the good behaviors which would please Allah. Avoiding ignorant behaviors, it is his responsibility to act wisely and display a mature attitude, and put his trust in Allah and persevere in the face of disturbing situations. Because Allah commands: Make allowances for people, command what is right, and turn away from the ignorant. (Surat al-Araf, 199)

A wise, faithful person’s manners are always noble and dignified that would make up for failures. Because of his profound devotion to Allah and his fear of Him being the foremost, he does not shape his behaviors according to other people’s attitudes. For his life in the Hereafter, he displays the best of morality as he can and turns to Allah, trusting in Him, under all conditions.

One should assess the incidents he encounters with seeing the good and blessing in them, without discriminating them as important or insignificant with the attitude and trust in Allah becoming to a Muslim. One can not know what is important or insignificant in Allah’s Sight and classify issues as “minor” or “major” according to his own mind. What befalls a believers is to display a steady character who turns to Allah, fears Him and puts his trust in Allah.

SOCIETIES DISTANT TO THE MORAL VALUES OF THE QUR'AN GROW AWAY FROM GENUINE LOVE

In societies distant to the moral values of the religion, people display all unfavorable manners such as insincerity, jealousy, desire to give harm to others, hatred and anger. People who do not live by the moral values of the Qur'an fail to sincerely love and respect one another. Consequently, they experience a relationship bereft of humane values. Such relations deprived of sacrifice, heartiness and sincere affection pose a threat for the society as a whole. All people who commit murder, injure people, get into fight,  run riot, engage in theft are those who do not experience and feel the beauty of love. They are those who are distant to moral values brought by religion.

However, people may not understand the importance of this threat. Because, in a society, this formation does not appear all of a sudden. People who, in time, grow away from favorable feelings brought by  moral values of the religion, also live without love and respect towards one another. They begin not to appreciate the importance of these beauties. Then, gradually, charity fades out, which can be clearly felt in human relations. For instance, while people help one another, they may think that helping others would cause making concession from their self-interests. Also, they may be snared by satan into thinking, “How will I benefit from it?”. Meanwhile they may wrongly think, “if there is no solid benefit to gain, then there is no meaning in helping others”. Thus, a growing number of corrupted role-models who only take self-interests into consideration appear in society. Corruption in relations among people and increase in crime rates are common in socities in which compassion, mercy and fellowship are replaced with anger, conflicts and hostility.

A comprehensive research conducted in Britain with the Anglican church’s contribution reveals the serious dimensions of the social problems and risks teens encounter. According to the research, egoism, greed, and individualist culture negatively affect young people. Thus it is of great importance for families and children to undergo primary education on love and moral values. The report in question also stresses the negative effect of parents' personal ambitions on their children and concludes “excessive individualism” to be the major problem in social relations. There is one conclusion sociologists derived from this research: “Individualism should be replaced with moral values and to be affectionate, self-sacrificing and charitable is better than chasing self-interests.”

The only solution to prevent degeneration, social problems and crimes in society is to live by the moral values of the Qur'an. A genuine Muslim makes sacrifices to earn Allah's good pleasure and, obeying one of Allah’s commandments in the Qur’an, speaks good words. This makes him feel relieved. Hoping Allah's good pleasure, he treats people generously and attains peace and happiness in return. Because he loves Allah, he loves everything, for they are created by Allah and sent to him as blessings. Moreover, he loves people, not expecting anything in return. A Muslim always feels contended, for he experiences all the beauties created by Allah in his spirit. It is evident that a society living by such moral values will be complately at ease, and enjoy material and spiritual prosperity.

Allah states in the Qur’an that genuine Muslims will be in bliss both in this world and the Hereafter. The related verses read:

Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did. (Surat an-Nahl, 97)

We gave him good in the world and in the Hereafter he will be one of the righteous. (Surat an-Nahl, 122)

THE QUR'AN: A MANIFESTATION OF ALLAH'S MERCY

The Qur’an is Allah’s generous gift to humanity, a great manifestation of His name the All Merciful, Most Merciful. The Qur’an is the main source from which people will learn about the true religion. The Qur’an is the word of Allah, Who created the universe from nothing, has perfect knowledge of everything, and has infinite mercy. The Qur’an is a blessing from our Lord:

… a revelation from the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful, a Book whose verses have been explained in detail, for people who know, as a Qur’an in Arabic. (Surah Fussilat, 2-3)

On that Day, We will raise up among every community a witness against them from among themselves and bring you as a witness against them. We have sent down the Book to you, making all things clear and as guidance and mercy and good news for the Muslims. (Surat an-Nahl, 89)

We have brought them a Book elucidating everything with knowledge, as guidance and a mercy for believers. (Surat al-A’raf, 52)

Allah, in a great manifestation of His mercy, sent down books to teach people, explain His decrees, and reveal Himself to them. Through His own words and wisdom, He showed them what they did not know. When these holy books were corrupted, He sent new messengers and revealed that the Qur’an would be protected until the Day of Judgment.

The Qur’an is Allah’s last divinely revealed book, and Allah’s protection of it is a mercy to humanity:

Nor can you say: “If the Book had been sent down to us, We would have been better guided than they were.” For a Clear Sign has come to you from your Lord, and guidance and mercy. Who could do greater wrong than someone who denies Allah’s Signs and turns away from them? We will repay those who turn away from Our Signs with the worst kind of punishment, because they turned away. (Surat al-An’am, 157)

The Qur’an’s simple and clear style enables everyone to understand its perfect wisdom. Therefore, they can learn from the Qur’an’s contents by reading and understanding the wisdom within the Qur’an concerning life in this world and the Hereafter:

“We have sent down to you a Book containing your Reminder. So, will you not use your intellect?” (Surat al-An’am, 10) and “We have not omitted anything from the Book” (Surat al-An’am, 38).

The Qur’an, which contains clear truths and is a sure guide to the straight path, reveals the truest knowledge on every truth that Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Therefore, those who live by the Qur’an and the Prophet’s sayings (hadiths) will obtain Allah’s mercy and guidance:

This Qur’an guides to the most upright Way and gives good news to the believers who do right actions that they will have a large reward. (Surat al-Isra, 9)

This is clear insight for humanity and guidance and mercy for people with certainty. (Surat al-Jathiyya, 20)

Those who choose the Qur’an and our Prophet’s way (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) will lead a life that is not like that of the unbelievers. For example, they are not anxious, discontented, fearful, worried, despairing, pessimistic, or overcome by panic in difficult situations.

They always conform to Allah’s decrees, regardless of the surrounding circumstances. Their every decision, word, and action indicates that they follow the Qur’an’s moral teachings. As a result, they always have a clear conscience and experience the ensuing spiritual contentment, well-being, and joy that Allah, in His mercy, grants those who live according to the Qur’an’s moral teachings:

O humanity! Admonition has come to you from your Lord, as well as healing for what is in the breasts and guidance, and mercy for the believers. (Surah Yunus, 57)

The Qur’an has been sent to all humanity, but it guides to the straight path only for those who fear and respect Allah and who believe in the Hereafter. It is a proof of His compassion for His sincere servants:

“Am I to desire someone other than Allah as a judge, when it is He Who has sent down the Book to you clarifying everything?” Those to whom We have given the Book know it has been sent down from your Lord with truth, so on no account be among the doubters. (Surat al-An’am, 114)

On that Day, We will raise up among every community a witness against them from among themselves, and bring you as a witness against them. We have sent down the Book to you making all things clear, and as guidance and mercy and good news for the Muslims. (Surat an-Nahl, 89)

Those are the Signs of the Wise Book. Guidance and mercy for the good-doers. (Surah Luqman, 2-3)

O humanity! Admonition has come to you from your Lord and also healing for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers. (Surah Yunus, 57)

Allah tells us that the Qur’an is a book of counsel for all people, a guide to the straight path for sincere believers who respect His power, and a book that contains sublime wisdom and gives true knowledge of the past and the future. Its incomparable style pierces the veil that hides the human propensity for error. Since it is eternally valid, all believers are determined to follow its decrees and the Prophet’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) example.

The Qur’an is Al-Furqan, the distinguisher between right and wrong, truth and falsehood: “Right guidance has become clearly distinct from error” (Surat al-Baqara, 256). Therefore, believers do not try to find a middle road between its moral teachings and a life of ignorance; they follow only the Truth: the Qur’an.

Knowing that the Qur’an manifests His name All Merciful, Most Merciful and thus proves His endless mercy toward all people, they obey Allah’s command to cling to its moral teachings:

So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. You are on a straight path. It is certainly a reminder to you and to your people, and you will be questioned. (Surat az-Zukhruf, 43-44)

HEART MASSAGE

Many miraculous features of the Qur’an prove it is the word of Allah. Facts are revealed in the verses through the scientific facts, the descriptions of the past and the mathematical codes, that could never have been known to anyone at the time. In addition, developments that could never have been learned with the level of knowledge and technology of the time were also indicated in the verses of the Qur’an before the event.

The fact that some scientific facts we only attained with 20th and 21st-century technology were revealed in the Qur’an 1400 years ago is clear evidence that the Qur’an cannot be the work of any human being.

One of the verses that may be referring to the future is verse 73 of Surat al-Baqara:

Remember when you killed someone and violently accused each other of it, and Allah brought out what you were hiding. We said, ‘Hit him with part of it!’ In that way Allah gives life to the dead and He shows you His signs so that hopefully you will understand. (Surat al-Baqara, 72-73)

Among the meanings of the Arabic term “biba’diha,” translated as “with part of it” in the above verse, is “someone or some people.” In the context of that meaning, the verse may be a reference to heart massage, striking the chest from above, which makes it possible to restart the heart if it has stopped beating. (Allah knows the truth.)

The person to whom the massage is administered has the characteristics of a dead body; loss of consciousness, and the cessation of respiration and heartbeat. With our present-day knowledge, heart massage can be applied to someone whose heart has stopped, enabling heartbeat and vital functions to resume. Pressure is applied to the rib cage at specific intervals during heart massage, and the rhythmic contraction required for it to continue pumping blood is thus established.

In that context, the striking of a dead body in such a way as to restore it to life, as stated in the verse, may be suggestive of the heart massage technique. The Qur’an is the word of Almighty Allah, He Who creates all things from nothing, Whose knowledge enfolds all things, and Who is unfettered by time and space. Every verse of the Qur’an therefore contains information revealed with the wisdom of our Almighty Lord. In one verse, Allah refers to the Qur’an itself as follows:

... Will they not ponder the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it. (Surat an-Nisa’, 82)

TRUE NATURE OF ALL BELIEVERS ARE MORALLY PERFECT

Allah creates all things together with their destinies. Everything created by Allah, human beings, animals, plants and other objects, all has its own destiny. Every human being is born together with a destiny chosen for him by Allah and adorned with thousands or even millions of details. He lives that destiny at every moment of his life, with every breath he takes. And when the time comes to die, Allah, our Almighty Creator, takes that person’s soul at the moment and in the place determined in his destiny.  The destinies of sincere Muslims who fear Allah and make obtaining His approval their aim in life are always created together with a great deal of beauty.

Everything is beautiful for a Muslim. In the same way that blessings are beautiful, so the difficulties, troubles, sicknesses and temporary sufferings of this world that Allah creates as part of the test, and the pressure and threats from unbelievers described by Allah in the Qur’an, are all blessings that turn into beauty for believers. Everything that may appear to be difficult and troublesome when looked at from a superficial perspective far removed from the moral values of the Qur’an turns into infinite beauty in this world and also in the Hereafter, where our real lives are lived, for Muslims possessed of faith and fortitude. Muslims always enjoy a positive state of mind that comes from the awareness and joy of knowing they are living out their destinies. They look at everything that Allah confronts them with in this world as containing wisdom and a means of obtaining Allah’s approval in the Hereafter. Nothing can cause a Muslim any sorrow or unhappiness.

An honest person who knows that Allah dislikes such a state of mind in believers constantly lives with the joy bestowed by the existence of Allah, His infinite greatness and His creation of all things in the most perfect form. Omniscient and Eternal Allah, Who is mighty enough to create all things, also creates in the most perfect form in the Hereafter, and this is one of the happiest tidings for Muslims in this world. The excitement that comes from love of Allah, the fervor of living by the moral values of the religion and knowing that one is constantly drawing closer to the Hereafter, the one destination at the end of the very brief life of this world keep Muslims always optimistic, alive, active and strong in mind.  Someone who lives in such a state of mind is always hopeful of Allah and always positive. It is in his destiny to be always smiling and to look on everything positively and with the perspective that Allah demands of us in the Qur’an. People around him feel the warmth of the moral values of the religion and the superior moral values of the Qur’an through his facial expression, words and behavior.  He is always inclined to speak the finest words and encourages Muslims and looks for the best in everything. A Muslim reveals all the beauty created in his destiny in the details of his life.

Deniers are also created by the will of Allah with a destiny. Allah creates everything with His omniscience and infinite wisdom. The life of a believer who adopts his own earthly desires as his purpose in life rather than the approval of Allah is devoid of all beauty and all the blessings that Allah bestows on Muslims. Deniers are deprived of the greatest blessings that Allah bestows on man, such as faith, an untroubled conscience, peace, love and fear of Allah and fervor for the Hereafter. The physical blessings that Allah bestows on such people as He wishes as part of the test, such as health and wealth, will turn into eternal suffering in the Hereafter for unbelievers. Deniers can enjoy none of the blessings that Muslims are given in this world, and can never attain happiness, which Allah reveals He will bestow on believers alone. Characteristics created in Muslims’ destiny, such as enjoying beauty, loving for the sake of Allah, altruism, loyalty, cleanliness, inner peace, foregoing one’s own rights and always behaving in a moral way do not have the same effect on a denier’s heart. They do not look for beauty in that way. Human characteristics are of no interest to them. They lack the sensitivity possessed by Muslims. In terms of sensitivity of spirit and other aspects of behavior, they literally exhibit the kind of moral values that more resemble those of animals.

Allah has created animals with all these features because that is how He wants them to be in their destiny. They all act and behave as determined in their destiny.  Their physical appearances and reactions are those created with great wisdom by Allah. In the same way, someone who is irritable, proud, unable to control himself, who mocks others, who is unaware that Allah creates events and who imagines he has some independent power of his own – surely Allah is beyond that – displays such behavior because that is how Allah has created him in destiny.

Human beings are entities with the attribute of being able to control their souls and train their worldly desires. They think deeply and perceive all details. They delight in beauty, and their souls are inclined toward beauty and cleanliness. But animals are devoid of these superior features that Allah has inspired in the human soul alone. Since that is how they are created, that is how they live. Allah describes the situation of people devoid of human characteristics as follows in the Qur’an:

“Have you seen him who has taken his whims and desires to be his god? Will you then be his guardian?” (Surat al-Furqan, 43)

“Do you suppose that most of them hear or understand? They are just like cattle. Indeed they are even more astray!” (Surat al-Furqan, 44)

As Allah reveals in His verses, deniers are like animals, or even more unaware. In the same way that Allah creates animals in the form they display in their destiny, deniers exhibit similar features in their destiny, and are distinguished from Muslims in a most evident manner.

THE MERCY OF ALLAH EMBRACES EVERYTHING

The word mercy comes from the Arabic rahama, meaning pity, protect, compassion and forgiveness. The name All-Merciful and Most Merciful of our Lord comes from this root. The adjective All-Merciful, which is used in the Qur’an only for Allah means “He Whose mercy embraces everything; Who wishes goodness, mercy, and beauty for all created things; Who imparts countless blessings without distinguishing who He loves from who He does not.” The adjective Most Merciful, which is also used for our Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him in peace) (Surat at-Tawba, 128) when refers to Allah, means “He Whose mercy embraces only believers in the Hereafter, Who rewards those Who use His blessings well with greater and infinite blessings.”

The name of Allah All-Merciful and Most Merciful is repeated numerous times in other verses of the Qur’an. All the surahs in the Qur’an except Surat at-Tawba, begins with the ascription in the name of Allah, the All-Merciful and Most Merciful. The name All Merciful of our Lord has a wide range of meanings: protecting, pitying, compassionate, and merciful names of Allah are all manifestations of Allah’s name All Merciful. His mercy encompasses all things and is limitless, timeless, and eternal. Of all those who show mercy, our Lord is the Most Merciful.

In the Qur’an, Allah tells us that Job (pbuh) used this beautiful name in his prayers:

And Job, when he called out to his Lord: “Great harm has afflicted me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.” (Surat al-Anbiya, 83)

Allah the All Merciful manifests His infinite mercy in everything seen and unseen. It is possible to see the All- Merciful name of Allah in the miracles of creation pervading the universe; the creation of humans and in the billions of details in the human body; in animals, food, drink, water, and air. In short, in every aspect of the universe. The universe manifests this mercy, for only He makes countless seeds sprout from under the ground; creates fruits and vegetables, sends down rain, feeds and nourishes the infinite number of creatures inhabiting our world; and creates the oxygen that life needs to survive. Our Lord surrounds every being with countless blessings, and thus no being can prevent the appreciation, generosity, and favor He shows toward humanity. In Surah Fatir our Lord announces His infinite Mercy upon the humans as below:

Any mercy Allah opens up to people, no one can withhold; any He withholds, no one can afterwards release. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise. (Surah Fatir, 2)

Every creature living on this planet, including human beings, can survive only if numerous conditions are met every moment, such as the existence of oxygen for them to breathe in, water and food for them to sustain their ability to carry out the countless processes. Moreover billions of processes take place in the human body every second. For the continuance of life, every single cell performs its own tasks upon Allah’s will. Even one single person’s survival, meeting all his physical needs, is bound to infinite number of details. Our Lord with his endless mercy has predetermined and supplied whatever is necessary.

He created human beings and placed them in the most suitable place to live. In return, all that human beings have to do is to be His servants. One manifestation of His name All-Merciful and Most Merciful is His sending of holy books through his Messengers to enable human beings to find the true path, and Prophets to explain the verses in ways that they could understand. In this way, Allah revealed Himself and invited them to the beauties of religious morality and told them how to lead a superior moral life. All of these things are clear evidence of our Lord’s endless mercy.

The unbelievers, idolaters, and hypocrites benefit from the air, water, and all blessings that Allah has bestowed, in His endless mercy, upon humanity: property and possessions, a beautiful house and children, sustenance, health, strength, and beauty. These are all manifestations of Allah’s infinite mercy. He does so in order to draw all people toward His religion and so that they will think reasonably and thank Him. Those who, nevertheless, continue to reject Allah will find that these blessings will only increase their misery. Those who turn away from Allah will enjoy these blessings throughout this short and temporary earthly life, while in the Hereafter, all of these blessings will belong to the believers who strove to draw near to Allah, earn His favor, and thanked Him without pause. Allah is eternal Justice and has announced the good news of Paradise, adorned with incomparable blessings, to the believers:

“Prescribe good for us in this world and the Hereafter. We have truly turned to You.” He said: “As for My punishment, I strike with it anyone I will. My mercy extends to all things, but I will prescribe it for those who guard against evil and give alms, and those who believe in Our Signs. (Surat al-A’raf, 156)

… Gardens of Eden, which the All-Merciful has promised to His servants in the Unseen. His promise is always kept. (Surah Maryam, 61)

THE RETINA: THE LAYER OF THE EYE

The retina is a layer of the eye that contains cells that allow us to see. At the time of the revelation of the Qur’an, this layer that made sight possible was unknown and the term retina was not in use. Yet the letters that comprise the word “retina” appear side by side in only one place in the Qur’an, in verse 8 of Surah Fatir. This verse also refers to “seeing,” for which reason there is a strong possibility that it refers to the retina. (Allah knows the truth.)

And what of him the evil of whose actions seem fine to him so that he sees them as good? Allah misguides whoever He wills and guides whoever He wills. So do not let yourself waste away out of regret for them. Allah knows what they do… (Surah Fatir, 8)

This verse, which contains the word “retina” that makes sight possible, refers to the Arabic verb “raa,” meaning “to see.” Verse 19 contains the sentence "The blind and seeing are not the same." Damage to the retina can lead to permanent blindness. Verse 20 refers to "nor are darkness and light." That term is highly significant in terms of the formation of the retina’s light-sensitive calls. All these terms regarding sight are very rare in the Qur’an. The fact that the word “retina” appears only in these verses out of thousands, is another of Allah’s miracles in the Qur’an.

ALLAH IS THE CREATOR OF ALL

Our Lord is the One Who has put billions of pieces of information in a place so small that our eyes cannot even see it.

Allah is the One Who has created us, our eyes, our hair, and our feet.

He is also the Creator of our families, parents, brothers and sisters, friends and teachers.

Allah is the One Who has created the food that we love for us, chocolates, cakes and candies, the fruits and vegetables that make us healthy and strong. If Allah had not created it, we would not have known what chocolate tasted like.

Allah has also given us the sense of taste and smell. If He had not given us these faculties, we would not have been able to taste the things that we eat. It would have been the same whether we ate a potato or a cake. Allah hasn't just created delicious and beautifully scented foods, He has also given us the faculties that will allow us to enjoy them.

You like some things, and you enjoy them and think of them as fun. It could be a dessert that you enjoy eating, a game that you enjoy playing, or an outing with people you love. You must never forget that Allah is the One Who makes it possible for you to enjoy such things.

Since Allah has great mercy for you, He always gives you pleasant and beautiful things.

To begin with, you did not exist. Just think, you were nowhere before you were conceived. You were nothing. Allah created you. He made you out of nothing.

Then we must be grateful to Allah for each moment of our lives. In everything that we enjoy and love, we must remember Allah, and say, "O Allah I am forever grateful to you for all your offerings." If we come across a situation that we do not like, we should again pray to Allah, because He is the only One Who can put things right.

Allah always hears our prayers and responds to them, because He always knows what is in our thoughts. While reading this section, for instance, you are thinking of some things, but if you do not say them aloud, no one at home will know what you are thinking. Allah, however, knows your every thought and sees you all the time. Even when you think you are alone, Allah sees you and knows everything that you do.

For this reason, good people, even when they are by themselves, do not think, "Well no one can see me now" and then do wrong things. They know that Allah still sees and hears them even when no one else is around.

ALLAH'S ART OF DETAIL MANIFESTED IN HONEYBEES

Anyone who carefully considers this world and the things that enable him to live for even a few minutes will be completely astonished. Our planet, which was specially created for life in one of the giant galaxies in the endless void of space, constantly revolves within that boundless void. The Sun, just one of the universe’s billions of stars, sends its rays to Earth within that same void. As a result, our planet is warmed; the various food, water, and nitrogen cycles occur, and human beings, animals, plants, and micro-organisms are able to survive due to the countless conditions that make their continued life possible. Countless details have been combined and presented to human beings in the most beautiful and flawless manner to meet the requirements of human life and/or to bestow beauty and blessings. Each detail, which has its own artistry, is a distinct marvel of creation. Sometimes, these details are so crucial that life would cease without them and Earth would become a dead planet. Scientists cannot come anywhere close to creating or imitating most of them, let alone create them out of nothing.

Allah bestows blessings on human beings at all times. For example, people survive thanks to their DNA (which is copied every moment), their continual and uninterrupted process of breathing, their always-beating hearts, the ever-revolving Earth, the atoms’ non-stop motion, and countless other details. Various kinds of foods, the solar rays that give color to Earth, the plants that engage in photosynthesis, rain, the micro-organisms that feed plants, the oceans, and countless other blessings are all means whereby life survives. Earth’s location, the existence of the Sun and Moon, their distance from Earth, and their location within the Milky Way; their sizes, angles, and orbits; and the gasses, molecules, and atoms they contain have all been created in the most ideal form for humanity’s existence. People must reflect on how they have been created so flawlessly along with all of the blessings that ensure their continued survival, and how these things are all reminders of a most important truth:

It is Almighty Allah Who created all people out of nothing, Who created all of the beauty that surrounds them and all of the blessings of which they are aware or unaware. He constantly renews each of these blessings and creates the astonishing details in each one. This is Allah’s art of detail.

With His unbounded knowledge, Allah created systems that human beings cannot comprehend because they have not yet discovered their details. Inside each detail are even more delicate beauties that reveal His Greatness and Might.

This is a very simple matter for Almighty Allah, Who creates from nothing, sets a value on all things according to His will, and Who has the power to create them when He wills to do so. If He willed, he could dispose of them all while still creating. Our duty is to thank Him for these unconditional blessings, know that we need Him, and turn only to Him.

A Muslim should always occupy his mind with the remembrance of Allah and see how “Everything in the heavens and Earth glorifies Him.” (Surat al-Hadid, 1) This glorification manifests itself in the amazing features of living beings. Take honeybees as an example. When it comes to making contiguous hexagons with an exact angle of 109 degrees and 28 minutes, one would need compasses and set squares to produce the various angular measurements and regularity necessary for devising the angles that determine these shapes. In the absence of such tools, there is both a considerable likelihood of error as well as the need to make various adjustments and redraw some of the hexagons. All of this would probably take a considerable amount of time. While this is a difficult matter for human beings, who possess reason and consciousness the same task is carried out by honeybees, who possess no reason or consciousness, in a perfect and continuous manner without any compasses or set squares. All honeybees build their combs using this flawless angle. Although there are hundreds of bees around the hive, there is no deviation from the angles of 109 degrees and 28 minutes and 70 degrees and 32 minutes when building their honeycombs. The combs are built by bringing in their edges by 13 degrees, which prevents the honey from pouring out.

If you stand close to a honeycomb, all you will see is honeybees flying around it. Yet every one of them is also an expert mathematician that knows where to stick the wax it is carrying and at what angle. How is this possible? Given that they possess no mathematical knowledge, did they learn to build these perfect combs by chance? Could each one of them, over the course of millions of years, have been born with this ability by chance, an ability that human beings never managed to acquire by chance? It is certainly impossible for a bee to possess an ability that human beings do not as the result of chance. It is Almighty Allah, the infinitely powerful, Who creates these creatures together with their superior abilities and Who inspires His own knowledge within them.

Your Lord revealed to the honeybees: “Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which men erect. Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow.” From inside them comes a drink of varying colors, containing healing for humanity. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect. (Surat al-Nahl, 68-69)

EVERYTHING HAS BEEN CREATED FOR A GOOD PURPOSE

Everyone suffers hardship and anxiety. Most people who live apart from the Qur’an’s moral teachings go through difficult times feeling discontented, sad, and anxious. They think they can pass through this earthly life without being tested, and do not believe in Allah or in the destiny that He created for them. Therefore, they regard whatever happens to them as having no meaning and suffer even deeper pain. Allah states in the Qur’an that He will test Muslims and distinguish between those who are good and those who are not:

Or did you imagine that you were going to enter the Garden without Allah knowing those among you who had struggled and knowing the steadfast? (Surah Al ‘Imran, 142)

Allah will only leave the believers in the position you now are in so that He can sift out the rotten from the good. Allah has not given you access to the Unseen. But Allah chooses those of His Messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His Messengers. If you believe and guard against evil, you will have an immense reward. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 179)

In this regard, the Qur’an gives us the example of something that happened during our Prophet’s (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) lifetime:

What assailed you on the day the two armies met was by Allah’s permission, so that He would know the believers, and so that He would know the hypocrites. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 166-167)

Believers know that everything happens according to destiny and treat every event as an opportunity to show their faithfulness, attachment, and submission to Allah. As a result, He turns what appear to be evil or difficult events to the advantage of His sincere believers, for He wants them to follow the straight path and attain the endless rewards of Paradise. Thus, times of difficulty are very valuable times of which believers must take advantage.

Unbelievers do their best to avoid making mistakes, for such people are mocked by their own people, or may be denied an important opportunity. However, the Qur’anic morality teaches something quite different: Believers know that Allah creates everything for a good purpose and that everything is a grace from the All Merciful and Most Merciful; that believers do not judge others on the basis of their mistakes; that believers feel a sense of compassion and mercy, for they understand that whatever occurs is destined. Therefore, they will feel regret and do their best to reform themselves by repenting and then abandoning that particular sin completely. When they make a mistake, the sorrow that they feel also turns out to be for their good, for it contains the determination not to continue making this mistake. It is very important that believers show trust and submission in such times and that they act with the knowledge that everything happens in a way designed to bring them closer to Allah.

According to 216th verse of Surat al-Baqara, Allah can turn things that appear bad into good for human beings, and that people may like what is bad for them. One example of this is miserly rich people who do not believe. It is a great mistake for unbelievers to think that miserliness is something clever and that not using their wealth in His path will somehow benefit them. In fact, the Qur’an reveals that such wealth will be worse for its possessors and bring them great pain in the Afterlife:

Those who are miserly with the bounty that Allah has given them should not suppose that that is better for them. No indeed, it is worse for them! What they were miserly with will be hung around their necks on the Day of Rising. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 180)

Believers have a totally different understanding of wealth and possessions. First of all, it is not so important to have possessions, because believers devote themselves to earning His good pleasure by using what they have in His path, instead of amassing possessions for themselves, as the unbelievers do. Believers never pursue worldly gain, but always direct themselves toward whatever will earn them eternal life and an exalted status in Allah’s sight. Allah announces these good tidings to them in the Qur’an:

Allah has bought from the believers their selves and their wealth in return for the Garden. They fight in His Way, kill and are killed. It is a promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur’an. And who is truer to his [or her] contract than Allah? Rejoice, then, in the bargain you have made. That is the great victory. (Surat at-Tawba, 111)

All prophets, messengers, and sincere believers who were aware of this truth acted with the knowledge that their possessions actually belonged to Allah, and so used them to earn His good pleasure. For example, the Qur’an says that believers who possess a moral character and mercy will give “…; those who honor their contracts when they make them, and are steadfast in poverty and illness and in battle” (Surat al-Baqara, 177). And, unlike some people, believers spend of their wealth not for show, but “spend their wealth, desiring the pleasure of Allah and strengthen their souls” (Surat al-Baqara, 265). Therefore, if they lose some of their possessions, they consider it a test from Allah and remain patient and optimistic:

Say: “O Allah! Master of the Kingdom! You give sovereignty to whoever You will and take sovereignty from whoever You will. You exalt whoever You will, and abase whoever You will. All good is in Your hands. You have power over all things.” (Surah Al ‘Imran, 26)

BELIEVERS' LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER

Love is one of the greatest blessings Allah has bestowed on humanity. Allah has created human nature in such a way that a person will take pleasure from loving and being loved. Being with people who live by the moral values of the Qur’an, enjoying love and friendship with them, brings a believer greater pleasure than many other blessings. Therefore, the Paradise that Allah has promised to His servants whom He loves and with whom He is well pleased is a place of extraordinary beauty in which true love, friendship and intimacy will be experienced with enormous joy for ever.

The information Allah provides about the life of Paradise in the Qur’an, always refers to joy, friendship, love, conversation, pleasing words and peace. Everything that might prove an obstacle to love and friendship has been kept far removed from the people of Paradise. In one verse, for example, Allah has revealed that He will strip away any rancour in the hearts of the companions of Paradise (Surat al-A‘raf, 43). All vices that might represent an obstacle to love and friendship, such as discrimiation, jealousy, enmity, rivalry, anger, discord and touchiness, will be excluded from Paradise.

One of the main characteristics of Muslims is that they love all Muslims who abide by Allah’s messengers, prophets and approval, in this world too. This bond of love and friendship between believers is revealed in these terms in the Qur’an:

Your friend is only Allah and His Messenger and those who believe: those who perform prayer and give the alms, and bow. (Surat al-Ma’ida, 55)

The faithful feel a closeness to all devout believers who strive to earn Allah’s approval, and adopt them as their friends and guardians. They take great pleasure from being with them under all conditions. They are bound to all Muslims with great loyalty and devotion. This love is not based on any interest, or lineage or race. Money, rank, culture or material values are of no importance to them in this regard.  They approve of the people of whom they expect Allah to approve; devout believers on the path of Allah are some of His most beloved servants. For that reason, believers also have great love and consideration for one another. Many verses of the Qur’an refer to the love, attachment, compassion and consideration that believers have for one another. Some of these verses read:

Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together, and do not separate. Remember Allah’s blessing to you when you were enemies and He joined your hearts together so that you became brothers by His blessing. You were on the very brink of a pit of the Fire and He rescued you from it. In this way Allah makes His Signs clear to you, so that hopefully you will be guided. (Surah al ‘Imran, 103)

Allah loves those who fight in His Way in ranks like well-built walls. (Surat as-Saff, 4)

Believers regard all the faithful as their brothers. They do not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the good of another believer or to ensure his or her comfort. This conception of love possessed by believers can only be acquired through faith and living by the moral values of the Qur’an. Allah reveals in one verse that He will bestow love on those who believe and do devout works:

As for those who believe and do right actions, the All-Merciful will bestow His love on them. (Surah Maryam, 96)

Our Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has expressed the importance of love and the superior nature of believers who live by true love in one of his hadiths:

"Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala) said: 'Those who love one another for My glory, will have minbars of light, and the Prophets and martyrs will wish that they had the same."  (Reported by Tirmidhi, 4/24, Bab ma ja'a fi al-hubb fi-Allah)

The true source of this love that believers have for one another is their deep love of Allah. Believers whose purpose in the life of this world is to attain the approval, mercy and Paradise of Allah spend their entire lives for Him. As is revealed in the verse “Say: ‘My prayer and my rites, my living and my dying, are for Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds,’” (Surat al-An‘am, 162) they aim at attaining His approval in their every deed, in all their behaviour. The love of believers, who devote all they have to attaining the good pleasure of Allah, is again for Allah alone. The love of Allah of a believer who knows Allah by all His names, who witnesses His might and greatness at every moment, who feels His mercy, love and compassion throughout his life, is incomparably greater than any other love. Believers’ love for other believers is similarly powerful and deep because it is based on the love of Allah, and they love in order to attain the approval of Allah. Another reason why this love is strong and permanent is because they know that the friendship with the faithful will last for ever in the Hereafter.

In the Qur’an Allah has given the moral values of the Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) as an example of this sensitivity of believers regarding love:

[We said:] “Yahya, take hold of the Book with vigour.” We gave him judgement while still a child, and affection and purity from Us—he guarded against evil... (Surah Maryam, 12-13)

There are three qualities whosoever has them will taste the sweetness of Iman: loving Allah and His Messenger above all else, loving someone solely for the sake of Allah, and hating to return to disbelief after Allah has rescued him from it, as much as he would hate being thrown into Hellfire.” (Sahih Bukhari).

Believers who have great love of Allah, fear Allah, and make sincere endeavors so that He might approve of them, are auspicious individuals who bring beauty to the world. Due to these superior moral values, they also love all the things that Allah has created, feel affection and compassion for them, and wish to protect them and bring them goodness and beauty. Allah has given the glad tidings that in return for this pleasing love stemming from the faith in believers’ hearts and their fear of Allah, and for their sincere loyalty to Him, He will reward them with Paradise, the most beautiful sphere of love and faithfulness.

COMMUNICATION WITHIN THE CELL

Most of us are familiar with high communications towers, and many of us have seen television news reports of the opening of such installations. The first impression that these images leave on our minds is probably the image of a structure full of antennas and complicated electrical devices. This idea is not mistaken because, in order to understand the technological devices used in these installations, one must have a certain engineering expertise in electronics and communications. Besides this, almost all of us believe that these facilities are now indispensable in enabling us to establish communication with people in every part of the world. Just think of this: What would happen if all the communications towers, with their centers and stations, were to shut down for a short time? There is no doubt that this situation would cause great chaos and anxiety. But, no matter how much material damage might result, it could still be repaired.

However, if the communication between our hundred trillion cells, or the communication within one cell, were to shut down for just an instant, and the cellular messages were not to reach their destination, the result would be death. Modern communication systems are established using electronic and mechanical devices with the most advanced technology. However, the advanced technology of the inner communications systems of cells, which is too advanced for human beings to fathom, is constructed with the use of devices structured from protein. Inside protein there are no electrical circuits (or even semi-conductors) as exist in modern devices; in their place are atoms of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. There are an estimated 30,000 different proteins in our body and of these, the function of only two percent is completely understood. (M. Encarta Encyclopedia 2000, "Protein") The function performed for human beings by many proteins is still largely unknown.

The communications system among cells in some ways resembles systems used by human beings. For example, on the membranes of the cells there are "antennae" that allow them to sense the messages that come to them. Immediately under these antennae are "power stations" which decode the message sent to the cell.

These antennae are located on the one hundred thousandth of a millimeter thick cell membrane that surrounds the cell. This receptor, which is known as "tyrosine kinase," is composed of three basic sections: the antenna, the body and the tail. The shape of the part of the antenna that projects out from the cell membrane resembles a dish antenna used to collect satellite transmissions. Just as each dish antenna is designed to receive certain satellite transmissions, there are different receptors that understand the language of the messages carried by various hormone molecules.

The messages coming from different cells/hormones come into contact with the antennae on the cell membrane, but each antenna is designed to sense only one single message. This is a very special instance of design and because of this, a message cannot be sent in error to another cell.

The great harmony in which hormones and antennae are created in relation to one another can be compared to the lock-and-key relation observed in almost all biological activity. Only the right key can open the lock; that is, only the right cell will have anything to do with the message sent, this message being without meaning for other cells.

The Scientific World and Cellular Communication

In the last part of the twentieth century there were enormous scientific advances in the field of cellular communication. Huge steps were taken towards an understanding of the communication networks in the depths of our bodies. For example, if we look at the awarding of the Nobel prizes over the past twelve years, six of the awards given in this period in the field of medicine were to research done in the field of cellular communication.

How far have we come in the year 2008? How much farther does the scientific world have to go? The answer to this question is very important because the answers we give will help us to understand that this cell communication system is a great wonder of creation.

In various countries of the world are many organizations, with a total budget of millions of dollars that are researching this matter. Towards the end of the year 2000, the Alliance for Cellular Signaling (AFCS) was established. Twenty universities and hundreds of scientists belong to this organization, and its founder, Alfred Gilman, was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1994 for his work in cellular communication. Professor Gilman had this to say about this subject:

If the brain needs sugar, the liver has got to put it out. If the muscles need more blood, the heart has got to beat faster. Hundreds of different chemical signals flow around the body, released from one cell to influence the activities of other cells. Cells are constantly being bombarded with very large numbers of chemical signals that tell them what to do and how to perform…The bigger problem, and the one that is most difficult to figure out, is how all of these modules interact together. ("UT Southwestern Nobel Laureate Leads Bold Project Changing Way Scientists Conduct Research," Science Daily Magazine, 5 September 2000, http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2000/09/000913204201.htm)

There are scientists who speak clearly and sincerely on this subject. One of these is the 1999 winner of the Nobel Prize in medicine, Günter Blobel who did research on the "zip code" system in cells. This world-renowned professor said the following in an interview on this subject:

It's shocking how little we know about how a cell works… And that will take a long, long time to figure out. ("Making discoveries that transform science," The Rockefeller University, Office of Communications and Public Affairs, www.rockefeller.edu/pub/discoveries/conversation.php)

The twenty-first century will, as science advances, allow us to learn more incomparable wonders of communication within our cells. For a person of understanding, every system that is being discovered is a demonstration of Allah's eternal wisdom and power, and a sign that reminds us that the only Being worthy of praise is Allah.

He is Allah – the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of Form. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Everything in the heavens and Earth glorifies Him. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise. (Surat al-Hashr, 24)

ALLAH'S MERCY TOWARD WOMEN

Allah tells us that He sent the Qur’an as a “Reminder” (Surat al-Muminun, 71), and gives prosperity to everyone who practices its morality and follows the straight path. The only way for some women to escape the difficulties they face in unbelieving societies and to be respected as they deserve is found in the Qur’an.

In many verses, Allah defends women and their rights, removes wrong ideas found in unbelieving societies about them, and gives them a respected place in society. The Qur’an tells us that Allah values the person’s fear and respect of Allah, faith, moral character, sincerity, and piety, not his or her gender. All these things are proofs of our Lord’s incomparable generosity toward women.

O humanity! We created you from a male and female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you might come to know each other. The noblest among you in Allah’s sight is the one of you who best performs his [or her] duty. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Surat al-Hujurat, 13)

O Children of Adam [and Eve]! We have sent down clothing to you to conceal your private parts, and fine apparel, but the garment of heedfulness – that is best! That is one of Allah’s Signs, so that, hopefully, you will pay heed. (Surat al-A’raf, 26)

Elsewhere, Allah says “Whatever good you do, Allah knows it. Take provision; but the best provision is fear [and respect] of Allah. So fear [and respect] Me, people of intelligence” (Surat al-Baqara, 197), and tells us that a person’s best quality is piety. Therefore, it must be piety that gives human beings their basic value and superiority in His sight. Allah says: “The men and women who give charity and make a good loan to Allah will have it increased for them, and they will have a generous reward” (Surat al-Hadid, 18). This verse reminds us that both women and men will be rewarded for abiding by the Qur’an’s morality.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an how to protect and care for women and give them the respect they deserve. All of these measures are for the sake of women. All these measures are for the sake of women so that they will not be harmed or oppressed.

Allah has shown humanity the straight path in the Qur’an and has rooted out falsity and ignorance. According to the Qur’an’s morality, the important thing is being attached to Allah with deep faith, fear, and respect. One’s gender is completely irrelevant. Obeying Allah’s commands and prohibitions means to follow the Qur’an’s moral teachings as closely as possible. These are the people who will have value in His sight. The Qur’an explains the basic qualities a person of faith, whether a man or a woman, must have:

The believing men and women are friends of one another. They command what is right and forbid what is wrong, perform prayer and give alms, and obey Allah and His Messenger. They are the people on whom Allah will have mercy. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (Surat at-Tawba, 71)

As Allah tells us, believing women and believing men are responsible for worshipping, adhering to the Qur’an’s moral teachings, urging others to do good, refraining from evil, and doing what the Qur’an says to do. Allah promises to give all persons, regardless of gender, “a criterion [to judge between right and wrong]” (Surat al-Anfal, 29). In return for their faith and sincerity, Allah will guide them toward Himself; enable them to make right decisions and behave correctly; and  give them intelligence, understanding, and perception. Therefore, intelligence does not depend on a person’s gender, but is bestowed upon those who fear and respect Allah and do their best to draw close to Him.

Every man or woman who acts according to the wisdom coming from belief may surpass others and attain success in every area of life. This depends completely upon the person’s will, zeal, and determination. In accordance with the precepts of Islamic morality, believers never consider themselves to be perfect in any matter; rather, they always try to be more aware, more able, more responsible, more developed in their character, and more successful in leading a good moral life. As much as possible, they strive to develop themselves in every area. Allah tells believers to pray to Him so that they may be examples of good character to those around them:

[Believers are] those who say: “Our Lord, give us joy in our wives and children, and make us a good example for those who guard against evil.” (Surat al-Furkan, 74)

A devout woman who does her best to be an example of character, moral rectitude, and industry will, Allah willing, attain a high position within her society. She carries out her responsibilities as best as she can, makes the most appropriate decisions, finds the best solutions to problems, and puts the best measures into effect.

Islam mandates complete equality for men and women. The Lord of all mercy has nullified all the gender distinctions arising from ignorance and mistaken ideas regarding gender, and demands that women be given their due value and respect. All of this depends upon each believer’s belief in Allah, moral character, and the responsibilities that they had assumed. Therefore, there is no struggle for equality with men for those women who practice the Qur’an’s morality; rather, there is a moral race of goodness in which all believers must do their best to earn His favor. With this goal in mind, they strive to become the person closest to Allah, His most beloved and favored. But this race is utterly of a blessed nature. Allah tells us that one of the believers’ main characteristics is the effort they put forth to achieve this goal:

Such people are truly racing toward good things, and they are the first to reach them. (Surat al-Muminun, 61)

Then We made Our chosen servants inherit the Book. But some of them wrong themselves, some are ambivalent, and some outdo each other in good, by Allah’s permission. That is the great favor. (Surah Fatir, 32)

HOW DO BUTTERFLIES FIND THEIR WAY?

In the temperate zone, there are few areas with flowers for butterflies to feed on, so these delicate little insects must migrate to reach their best feeding grounds. They will fly in a straight line to a flowery meadow, but on arriving they change their behavior and act as though they live there. They feed from the flowers, mate, and the females lay their eggs. But their idyllic meadow life lasts only a short time. Within a few minutes or several days, the butterflies leave the field.

Butterflies migrate only at the hottest times of the day and then only when the Sun is shining. When the Sun is at its brightest, they line themselves up at an angle to the horizon. As the angle of the Sun changes, they maintain the same angle to the horizon. Since this angle stays constant, the direction they’re moving in changes by approximately 15 degrees an hour. But unlike the temperate species, tropical butterflies do not change their migrational direction throughout the day.

An individual butterfly heading east in the morning will still be flying east when evening falls. At the start of the journey, it takes its direction from the Sun, but does not subsequently alter its course as the Sun’s position changes. Consequently, the butterfly must know that the Sun changes its position, and that if it changes its own course accordingly, it will arrive at the wrong place. It must also know the right and the wrong destinations for itself, and what direction will take it to the correct one. Each butterfly possesses all this knowledge, but by itself, this knowledge is not enough. Each butterfly must evaluate this in relation to its location and make a decision. Of course it is not rational to think that all of this depends on a little butterfly’s ability to judge. The reality is that Allah has created all the characteristics they need to carry on with their lives.

Even the most durable pocket compass loses its sensitivity over time due to electromagnetic effect. However, the direction finding ability of these little butterflies, which is such an important aspect of their lives, is not damaged by external influences and does not let them down in the midst of their journey. Allah has created all life forms perfectly. In a verse of the Qur’an, Allah reveals the following about His creation of creatures:

Allah created every animal from water. Some of them go on their bellies, some of them on two legs, and some on four. Allah creates whatever He wills. Allah has power over all things. (Surat an-Nur, 45)
